A new PSP would be superior to PS6.
As gamers, we are always on the lookout for what's next in the world of consoles. What can we expect from the PlayStation Portal? Recently, there have been rumors of Sony working on a new PlayStation Portable, and I must say, I am beyond excited. In fact, I believe that handheld consoles are the future of the gaming industry.

In the coming months, as we move towards the new year, we will undoubtedly hear more about the next generation Xbox and the PlayStation 6. It's interesting to note that Microsoft has already announced their new hardware, even though they have been rather vague about the details. This has left many of us wondering what exactly they have in store for us.

According to rumors, the new Xbox might be a portable or hybrid console, taking inspiration from the popular Nintendo Switch and the new Steam Deck. This doesn't seem like much of a stretch, especially since Phil Spencer has been dropping hints about it for a while now. The real question is, will there be other models as well?

As for the PlayStation 6, not much has been revealed yet. However, what has caught my attention more than the thought of another large and bulky console, is the rumor about Sony working on a new portable console, following the unexpected success of the PlayStation Portal.

I, for one, am really hoping that this rumor is true. I have always been a fan of portable consoles, not just for their convenience and freedom, but also because they tend to have games that are easier to pick up and play without having to spend hours on end in front of a TV.

If the rumors are indeed true, I can't imagine Sony creating a separate format for the new console. Even Nintendo has moved away from that approach with their latest consoles. This means that the new PlayStation Portable must be able to run at least PlayStation 4 games smoothly. And that, my friends, is something to get excited about.

One of the biggest issues that both Sony and Microsoft are facing is the need to constantly produce 200+ hour games with ultra-realistic graphics and all the bells and whistles. However, we all know that these are not necessarily the most popular or enjoyable games.

In a world where Minecraft is the most played game ever and Balatro is considered the best game of the year, it's clear that graphics don't always determine the success of a game. Even the hugely popular GTA 5 is essentially a PlayStation 3 game.

A new portable PlayStation would not only make gaming more accessible, but it would also give smaller developers, especially those in Japan, the opportunity to create lower-budget AA games without worrying about how they will look on a big screen.

Nintendo has been benefiting from this approach for years, and I can't help but feel that Microsoft and Sony are missing out on a big opportunity. While indie games are great, there is a huge gap between them and AAA titles that they seem to be ignoring.

The PlayStation 5 has been a letdown on many levels, but the recent lack of new games has somewhat masked its flaws, such as the absence of new titles and the rising costs of games. A portable console would make it easier for Sony to introduce new IP and tackle these issues.

Moreover, a new console would bring back the excitement and anticipation that has been missing with the PlayStation 5. Let's face it, the PS5 is not the most aesthetically pleasing console, and its graphics aren't significantly better than its predecessor. A portable console, on the other hand, would be a refreshing change of pace.

If Sony hasn't learned by now that graphics are not at the top of most gamers' priorities, then I don't know what hope there is for them. It's becoming increasingly clear that portable gaming is the future of the industry, and if the rumors are true, then PlayStation will play a major role in shaping it.
