September 6th 2024.
You may have already heard the exciting news that Pharrell Williams, the incredibly talented artist and designer, now has his very own Lego movie! Titled "Piece by Piece," this animated biopic is set to hit theaters soon and has already been receiving a lot of buzz. And what's even more exciting is that it has its very own Lego tie-in set.
It's been a decade since the original Lego Movie, which catapulted Chris Pratt to superstardom, and fans have been eagerly waiting for a new entry in the series. While there's still no news of a sequel, we do have something completely different to look forward to. Piece by Piece is a unique biopic that follows Pharrell's life and career, but with a twist - it's all animated with Lego! And not only that, but it also features other famous stars like Gwen Stefani, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg.
Of course, it wouldn't be a new Lego movie without a tie-in set, and the one for Piece by Piece is just as extraordinary as the film itself. The set, called "Over the Moon with Pharrell Williams," features a sleek black space shuttle with a special gold canopy and colorful exhaust stream. But what makes this set truly stand out is its design. The shuttle is supported by the exhaust and clouds underneath, creating a unique angled look that you wouldn't normally see in a Lego set.
But that's not all - the set also comes with 51 different minifigure heads, increasing the range of skin tones available to a total of seven. And over 30 of these heads are exclusive to the set, giving you the opportunity to create your own unique characters or even recreate the abacus design seen in the movie.
Pharrell himself has expressed his excitement for this collaboration, saying, "Growing up, I was obsessed with space and the infinite possibilities it represents. This partnership aims to inspire creativity and inclusivity. With my Lego Over the Moon set, I want everyone to feel seen and empowered to imagine their own stories. The spaceship is blasting off, and you're in the pilot seat."
But the excitement doesn't end there - Pharrell's non-profit children's foundation YELLOW will also be launching a new Build the Change challenge in partnership with Lego this fall, with the aim of helping kids all around the world.
The Over the Moon set is made up of 966 Lego pieces and stands at an impressive 49cm tall and 20cm long. It will be available for purchase starting September 20, but you can already pre-order it from Lego stores and their website for £94.99. And if you can't wait to see Piece by Piece, you'll be happy to know that it will be launching in the UK on November 8.
Many are already praising the unique and clever design of the Over the Moon set, and we can't wait to see it in action. Do you have a story to share about your love for Pharrell or the Lego movie?
