A 35-year-old man has been arrested by Odisha Police for assaulting a female postgraduate student in Sambalpur district on Thursday. According to an officer, the woman, who is a resident of Burla and a postgraduate library science student at a university, was seriously injured in the incident.

The SP added that the woman was later taken to VIMSAR, Burla for treatment and was later transferred to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
During the investigation, the police seized several items as evidence, including the accused's mobile phone, the woman's broken phone, an earphone, a stone stained with blood, and the victim's comb. The incident has caused widespread outrage and concern for the safety of women in the area.
