A list of the top 5 video game developers in the world currently according to a reader's feature.
As a reader, I have been reflecting on the top developers in the gaming industry today. With so much chaos and controversy surrounding the industry, it's refreshing to see a year filled with incredible game releases. Instead of dwelling on negative news, I wanted to focus on something positive and make a list of my top five favorite developers. Although the top two choices may seem obvious, the remaining three were not as easy to decide on.

It was a challenging task to narrow down my favorite developers, as many "obvious" choices did not make the cut for me. While I used to love PlatinumGames, their lack of recent releases and the departure of Hideki Kamiya have diminished my excitement for their future projects. Additionally, while I appreciate Naughty Dog's storytelling in games like The Last of Us and Uncharted, their gameplay often takes a backseat and I prefer a more balanced approach.

So, without further ado, here is my list of the top five best developers in the world. I know not everyone will agree with my choices, but in my opinion, these developers have consistently produced some of the greatest games in the industry.

5. Supergiant Games
While there are many talented indie developers, it's rare for them to become well-known due to their limited number of releases. However, Supergiant Games has been making waves since their debut in 2011 with Bastion. They have continued to impress with games like Transistor, Pyre, and the recent hit, Hades. I am currently playing the early access version of Hades 2, and it's just as fantastic as their previous titles. While it's exciting to see them venture into sequel territory, I also appreciate their confidence and refinement in their games, leaving little room for criticism.

4. Capcom
It's been a joy to witness Capcom's recent return to greatness, but they have always been a solid developer in my eyes. From their classic arcade games to the early Resident Evil titles, and now with Monster Hunter and Dragon's Dogma, they have a diverse range of games that rival my top choice for best developer. Not only have they released fantastic games, but they continue to surprise us with their future projects. I am eagerly anticipating what they have in store for us next.

3. Larian Studios
In contrast to Capcom, Larian Studios is a relatively new developer, and they focus on a specific type of game. However, their two titles, Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Baldur's Gate 3, are considered some of the best games ever made. What sets them apart for me is their recent statement that "building games that are actually fun is going to make you the most money, that's it." In light of recent industry events, these words hold more importance than ever.

2. FromSoftware
While my first three choices would immediately grab my attention with any new release, I cannot guarantee that I will enjoy their game. However, with FromSoftware, I have complete faith that I will love anything they put out. Ever since Dark Souls shook up the industry, they have consistently released one hit after another. I am eagerly anticipating Elden Ring and Armored Core 6, but my most anticipated game of the year is the mysterious Shadow of the Erdtree. FromSoftware creates games without conforming to industry trends or trying to please everyone, and that is what makes them one of the best developers out there.

1. Nintendo EPD
It almost feels like cheating to include Nintendo in this list because no other developer comes close to their level of consistency and longevity. They have reached incredible heights with their games, and their Entertainment Planning & Development Division is responsible for some of their biggest hits, including Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Splatoon. However, nearly everything connected to Nintendo is excellent, and that is a testament to their track record over the years. They have been in the industry for a long time, yet they continue to impress and set the bar for other developers.

In the end, these are just my opinions, and I know not everyone will agree with my choices. However, I firmly believe that these five developers are some of the best in the world, and their games speak for themselves. As a gamer, I am excited to see what they have in store for us in the future.
