A JD(S) MLA, Revanna, has been sent to judicial custody until May 14 in a case involving the kidnapping of a woman.
In Bengaluru, Karnataka, HD Revanna, a JD MLA and former Minister, has been facing charges of kidnapping. On Wednesday, a Magisterial court remanded him to judicial custody until May 14. Furthermore, his bail petition will be heard by a sessions court on Thursday.

Revanna, who is 66 years old and the son of JD patriarch and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, had completed four days of police custody before being brought before an Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. The court then ordered that he be kept in judicial custody for seven days until May 14.

The case against Revanna involves allegations of kidnapping a woman, based on a complaint filed by her son. The son also accused Revanna's son and MP, Prajwal Revanna, of sexually assaulting her. The police have stated that the woman was successfully rescued.

The allegations of sexual abuse against Prajwal caused a political uproar, with the ruling Congress and BJP-JD engaging in a heated debate. In response to the situation, the Congress government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the matter. However, the BJP and JD, who are partners in the NDA, have demanded that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Prior to the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka on April 26, explicit videos allegedly involving Prajwal began circulating. The Chairperson of Karnataka State Commission for Women, Dr Nagalakshmi Chaudhary, wrote to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and state police chief Alok Mohan, urging them to investigate the videos that were being shared in Hassan. As a result, the Congress government formed the SIT on April 28 to look into the matter.

According to reports, Prajwal, who was a candidate for the NDA in the polls from Hassan, left the country on April 27, the day after the elections. He has also failed to respond to summons issued by the SIT to appear before them.
