MoAna Luu is a Martinican creator and brand architect who is unapologetically dousing the fashion industry in her own Creole culture. As the chief content creator for Essence and a designer for hotels, she knows how to make her mark. She believes that in order to create the change you want to see, you have to take up space. Her luxury jewelry brand, ManLuu by MoAna Luu, is doing just that.
To celebrate its second anniversary, ManLuu hosted a powered event by Shop With Google. Luu took this opportunity to remind the Black community of the importance of having each other's backs and how much life is about taking chances and risks. When the pandemic hit, Luu took the opportunity to create a passion project that fused heritage and high fashion together.
ManLuu has now become the first Caribbean brand to sell in St. Barts, one of the world's most expensive travel destinations. Luu has dedicated the past year to understanding the process of being in a large retailer, learning from other people's experiences and advice. She has also recently released a fine jewelry line which has seen success in the first three months, with celebrities like Cardi B wearing her pieces.
ManLuu is a perfect tool to tell the story of Creole culture to the American market. Luu is very intentional in her storytelling and works with many Black creatives to bring them along on this project. She wants to make sure that each piece is symbolic and authentic, inviting everyone to discover cherished objets d’art that date back to the 1700s and 1800s. It is her goal to remain true to herself and accept the fact that we are all a melting pot of cultures.
