A tragic incident has occurred in Thailand, where a 25-year-old British tourist lost his life after suffering a severe reaction to magic mushrooms. The young man, who has not been named, was vacationing in Chiang Mai with his girlfriend for the Christmas holidays. In an attempt to enhance their experience, they decided to purchase magic mushrooms from a cannabis shop called The Glory Days and consumed them in their hotel room.
However, just 40 minutes after ingesting the drug, the man started foaming at the mouth and writhing in pain. His girlfriend immediately called for help, and medics arrived quickly at their resort. Despite their efforts, the unfortunate tourist was pronounced dead at the scene. His girlfriend, who was questioned by the medics, admitted to buying the mushrooms from the aforementioned shop.
Following this tragic incident, the authorities took action and raided The Glory Days, arresting its owner on suspicion of selling category 5 narcotics. According to Worapong Khamluea, the investigating police officer, the couple had been sightseeing at the famous Tha Pae Gate and then decided to visit the shop to purchase the hallucinogenic drug. They then returned to their hotel room and consumed the mushrooms, which led to the man's fatal reaction.
Upon searching the shop, the police discovered sacks containing 7kg of magic mushrooms in a storage room used by the owner. As a result, four suspects, including the owner and three employees, were arrested in connection to the incident. The British Embassy has been informed, and the family of the deceased has been notified.
