Coming up next, former Big Brother contestant Daze Aghaji has shared her experience of dealing with a chronic illness while in the house. Despite facing health challenges, Daze formed a close bond with fellow housemate Lily and even won one of the first challenges by keeping her arm raised for three hours.
Fans were shocked when Daze was eliminated from the show, with many feeling she was unfairly voted out. However, the 24-year-old Londoner has now revealed that she was recently diagnosed with a chronic illness and didn't want to risk her health by staying in the house.
In an interview with Metro, Daze opened up about being diagnosed with long-Covid in 2020, which triggered a series of autoimmune issues. She explained, "Living with chronic illness is interesting because it teaches you how to be in a different way, and especially in the context of the house, it really put into perspective what I hold dear, and one thing I hold very dear is my health."
Daze also suffers from an oral allergy syndrome, which unexpectedly flared up while in the house. She recalled a frightening incident where she developed a rash after cutting a carrot. This made her question whether she was willing to risk her health for the show.
She said, "With autoimmune stuff, you never really know what it is...Living with chronic illness is interesting because it teaches you how to be in a different way, and especially in the context of the house, it really put into perspective what I hold dear, and one thing I hold very dear is my health."
Despite the challenges, Daze managed to stay in the game and even won one of the first challenges by keeping her arm raised for hours. However, she admitted that there were moments where she questioned if she could handle the physical and mental strain of the show.
Daze also opened up about the dynamics in the house and how she felt some of her housemates weren't playing fair. She said, "I guess I went into it quite naïve thinking that, yes, it's a game, but everyone's playing fair, right? And I guess people aren't playing fair, and I kind of realized that just a little too late."
The former housemate also shared her disappointment at not having the chance to confront her fellow contestants about their nominations. She said, "I'm one of those people that if there's a problem I want to talk it out, and not having the space to be able to do that was quite challenging to live with."
Despite the challenges, Daze has no regrets about her time on the show and described it as an "amazing, but also really hard, and also really insightful and really reflective" experience.
