Rourkela: Meet Tanush Kohli, a young boy with a passion for mountain terrain biking. At only 12 years old, he fearlessly competes against much older individuals and emerges victorious. Tanush is a sixth-grade student at Delhi Public School in Rourkela, and his love for cycling began at the tender age of eight when he first rode a bicycle.

According to Tanush's father, Akhil Kohli, a successful industrialist, his son's interest in cycling was a happy accident. They bought him a small learner's cycle with training wheels, like most families do for their young children. However, little did they know that this would ignite Tanush's love for cycling, eventually leading him to take on the challenging mountain terrain bikes.

Currently, Tanush is in New Delhi, where he recently participated in one of the toughest MTB cycling competitions in the country, the Firefox MTB Shimla. The race covers a grueling 120 km distance, passing through treacherous terrains in the Himalayas. To complete the race, participants had to ride 70 km on the first day and another 50 km on the second day. Despite the age range of participants being between 10 and 50 years old, many seasoned and older cyclists gave up halfway through due to the taxing nature of the ride. However, young Tanush persevered and completed the race without any problems, though he was understandably tired. For his impressive feat, he received the "finisher medal" from the organizers.

Prior to this, Tanush had participated in various cycling events and competitions in Odisha and Bengaluru, where he won several prizes. He is also set to compete in the 50 km category in Odisha. Tanush's daily routine involves waking up at 4:30 am and taking three laps on the 21 km-long Ring Road in Rourkela, with his parents following him in a car. He also receives guidance and coaching from renowned cyclist Sushil Das, who is currently a coach. According to Sushil, Tanush is one of the most promising young cyclists in the country, and he is impressed by his dedication and hard work.

Despite his intensive training and participation in various competitions, Tanush's studies have not been affected. He manages to score more than 80% marks and excels in his exams. Tanush's father proudly states that his son's studies are not compromised by his love for cycling. With such determination and talent, Tanush is sure to achieve great success in both his academic and cycling pursuits.
