Aïda Moudachirou-Rébois leaves senior VP position at MAC Cosmetics due to declining sales.

According to a recent report by WWD, Aïda Moudachirou-Rébois is no longer serving as senior vice president and global general manager at MAC Cosmetics after two years in the position. This news comes amidst a series of changes within both MAC and its parent company, Estée Lauder Cos., under the leadership of CEO Stéphane de la Faverie. In 2025, Nicola Formichetti joined as global creative director, and Lisa Sequino was appointed as makeup brand cluster president. Moudachirou-Rébois brought a wealth of experience to her role at MAC, having spent over 20 years in the beauty industry in senior positions at Revlon, Johnson & Johnson, and L'Oréal. Prior to joining MAC in 2021, she oversaw several brands, including Neutrogena, Aveeno, and The Body Shop. When she was promoted to SVP in January 2024, Moudachirou-Rébois succeeded Philippe Pinatel, who was MAC's Global Brand President under Estée Lauder Companies before his departure the same month. During her time at MAC, she was instrumental in the success of recent launches such as MACStack Mascara and Hyper Real skincare, which were praised by ELC Group President Jane Hertzmark Hudis. Moudachirou-Rébois took on her senior vice president role during a particularly successful period for the brand, as MAC was named the most searched-for beauty brand in 2023, surpassing popular brands like Sol de Janeiro and Drunk Elephant. However, the past year has brought some challenges, with makeup sales across Estée Lauder Cos. declining by 1% in the quarter ending Sept. 30. Despite new launches and the "I Only Wear MAC" campaign, the category posted a $15 million operating loss. MAC's softer retail performance also contributed to a 5% drop in annual makeup sales. In response to these challenges, the brand is now preparing to expand into Sephora. The category now falls under the leadership of Lisa Sequino, who serves as president of Lauder's makeup brand cluster. Sequino returned to the company after a stint as CEO of JLo Beauty and Supergoop. At the time of her appointment, she oversaw a portfolio that included MAC, Bobbi Brown, Too Faced, Smashbox, and Glamglow. In related news, Mellody Hobson, co-CEO of Ariel Investments, continues to advocate for Black economic empowerment with her Elevate Your Excellence initiative. As a prominent figure in the business world, Hobson's dedication to this cause serves as an inspiration for leaders across industries.
