8.17 crore job opportunities created for all job seekers, including women, SC/ST, and EWS, says Employment Minister.
In the Parliament on Monday, Minister for Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, shared an update on the government's National Career Service (NCS) portal. According to him, a staggering 8.17 crore job vacancies have been mobilised on the portal till November 20 of this year, providing a wide range of opportunities for jobseekers. Additionally, over 6.02 crore jobseekers and 54.27 lakh employers have registered on the NCS portal since its inception.

Mandaviya explained that the NCS portal, managed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, acts as a one-stop solution for career-related services. This includes job listings from both private and government sectors, information on online and offline job fairs, job search and matching, career counselling, vocational guidance, and details on skill development courses and training programmes - all accessible through a digital platform. He also mentioned the establishment of Model Career Centres in collaboration with states and institutions, which have been approved by the government up to a count of 407.

In other news, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently announced the creation of three new departments, including an MSME Directorate, with the aim of boosting employment opportunities for the youth. Mandaviya had previously referenced the World Economic Forum's report on the future of jobs in 2025, stating that India's unemployment rate of 2% is the lowest among G20 nations. He attributed this to the country's rapid economic growth and highlighted various government schemes that have aided in employment generation across different sectors. The Ministry has also signed agreements with ten key organizations such as Amazon and Swiggy, resulting in the mobilization of nearly five lakh vacancies.

Shifting the focus to the youth, Mandaviya recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of a package of five flagship schemes worth Rs 2 lakh crore at the start of the government's third term, aimed at supporting employment, skilling, and opportunities for 4.1 crore youth. One of the key highlights of this package is the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, with a budget of Rs 99,446 crore, with the goal of incentivizing the creation of over 3.5 crore jobs in two years, benefiting 1.92 crore first-time entrants into the workforce.
