The 60th anniversary of the March on Washington is coming up on August 26th! This momentous occasion saw over 200,000 Americans come together to walk in solidarity for employment opportunities. To commemorate this historic event, Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King III, and Arndrea Waters King are bringing together an impressive coalition of over 50 organizations that span cultural and generational lines. The demonstration will take place at the iconic Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, which was the birthplace of the original march.

As democracy is continuously under threat, this anniversary is a reminder of the importance of continuing to fight for the future Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. envisioned and to preserve his legacy. To honor this momentous occasion, the National Civil Rights Museum is partnering with Faircount LLC to create a collector’s edition magazine that features a series of photographs documenting the March on Washington, along with editorials from those whose lives have been impacted by Dr. King's work.

The pre-program for the event will begin at 8:00 a.m. ET, followed by the main program at 11:00 a.m. After the speeches, attendees will march to the Capitol building. A total of 11 organizations are co-chairing the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, including the AAJC, the Anti-Defamation League, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the Legal Defense Fund, NAACP, the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, the National Council of Negro Women , National Urban League, and UNIDOS.

In addition to the co-chairs, there is an extensive list of partner organizations that are participating in the event.
