Somwarpet, Jan. 30: Out of the 355 beneficiaries of the taluk who were waiting for BPL cards, 44 were distributed BPL cards after three years.

The cards were distributed at a meeting held at the Taluk Panchayat Hall in the town under the chairmanship of Taluk Guarantee Implementation Committee President G.M. Kantaraju.

A total of 355 people have applied since 2023, of which 44 have been approved, while 65 applications have been rejected. Food Inspector of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Yashaswini, informed the meeting that 246 applications are pending for disposal.

In Somwarpet taluk, a total of 1032 BPL people, including those with an income exceeding Rs. 1.20 lakh, those with 3 hectares of land, tax payers, and those who have not received ration for a year, have been distributed. Ration cards have been converted into APL cards. 145 people have applied for BPL. They said that they are investigating this.

Bus traffic discussion: Government buses coming from Bangalore to Shanivarasante or Somwarpet are not stopping at Hundli village even after requesting a stop. This is causing trouble to the common people. Therefore, committee member Veerendra demanded that a resolution be sent to the depot manager and an order be issued. Responding to this issue, the chairman said that a resolution should be taken and a letter should be written to the manager and that Somwarpet TC should also inform the depot manager about this.

While Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Paramesh Kumar was speaking about the KSRTC bus problem in the meeting, Somwarpet KSRTC Bus Station TC The officer was severely reprimanded after being caught making a video on his mobile phone. Later, the officer apologized.

Sridevi, an officer of the Women and Child Welfare Development Department, said that the money for the Grihalakshmi Yojana was released for the month of September 2025 and 682 beneficiaries were paid, while 46 are yet to receive money. The officials informed the meeting about the remaining Grihaljyoti and Yuva Nidhi schemes.

Members S.M. D'Silva, Rajamma, Rajappa, Bojappa, Rangaswamy, Gautham Shivappa were present in the meeting.
