4000 women tie rakhis to their brothers in Madhya Pradesh's Satna Central Jail.
Rakshabandhan, the traditional festival of brothers and sisters, was celebrated in the Central Jail after a gap of three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thousands of women flocked to the prison to tie Rakhis to their prisoner brothers. The state government issued an order for the same and the jail administration took special security measures, setting up five checking points.

Leena Kosta, the Superintendent of the Central Jail, said that more than 5,000 women had tied Rakhis to their brothers by 4 pm. The jail administration also made all the necessary arrangements for the celebrations.

In Satna district, a socio-cultural organization called Ehsas tied Rakhis to trees as a way of connecting people to nature. Samar Singh, the President of the organization, said that their effort was to create a bond between people and nature.

In Ganj Basoda, many women visited the prison at noon itself to tie Rakhis to their brothers, even though the time allotted for the same was 9 pm. The joy of the prisoners, especially the kids, was palpable when they received the Rakhis.

Elsewhere in Madhya Pradesh, a teenage girl committed suicide in Chhatarpur, and her family produced a fake marksheet to save the accused.
