This news comes after Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced the disbursement of the first instalment for pending beneficiaries in September. The scheme, which targets women between the ages of 21 to 60, is expected to benefit around 40 lakh women in this phase.
The Subhadra portal has seen a significant increase in registrations, with over 97 lakh women currently registered and the numbers are expected to cross 1 crore soon. "The state government is committed to ensuring that all eligible women receive the Subhadra money and that no one is left behind," Parida had stated earlier. The scheme aims to cover all eligible women in the state by March 8, 2025.
It is worth noting that 25 lakh women have already received the first instalment on September 17, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme during his visit to Odisha. According to the Prime Minister's Office, Subhadra scheme is the largest women-centric initiative in the state, with a target of supporting over 1 crore women who will receive Rs 50,000 over a period of five years. The beneficiaries will receive Rs 10,000 annually in two equal instalments through Aadhaar-linked, DBT-enabled bank accounts. During the launch event, PM Modi will personally initiate the first fund transfer to over 10 lakh women beneficiaries.
