In Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, law enforcement officials reported the arrest of four Naxalites and the seizure of explosive materials from them on Thursday. In a separate incident, three Naxalites also surrendered in Bijapur. According to authorities, the arrested Maoist members in Sukma were planning to plant the explosives in the Chintalnar area to target security forces during their patrolling duties.
The four arrested individuals were identified as Rava Hadma, Vetti Aayta, Barse Bheema, and Madkam Kosa. They were active as militia members of the Maoist group and were apprehended from a forested hill near Ravguda village on Tuesday. The joint operation was carried out by the 74th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force and the district force during an area domination operation.
All four of the arrested Naxalites are from Morpalli village in the area, according to officials. During the operation, security personnel also recovered various materials from the suspects, including 15 gelatin rods, two electronic detonators, eight non-electronic detonators, 12 meters of cordex wire, Maoist pamphlets, and a command switch. Upon interrogation, the suspects revealed their plans to plant the explosives on routes commonly used by security forces during their patrolling duties.
Meanwhile, in Bijapur, three Naxalites, including two with a combined reward of Rs 2 lakh, surrendered during the day. The surrendered individuals were identified as Lakkhu Karam alias Gunda, Sukhram Awalam, and Narsu Boddu alias Neti. According to a district official, Karam was the president of the Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Majdoor Sangathan under the Pidiya Revolutionary Party Committee of the CPI. Awalam was the Jantana Sarkar head, and Neti was the Kamkanar RPC Platoon Deputy Commander.
Karam and Awalam had a reward of Rs 1 lakh each on their heads.
