3 arrested for unlawfully selling skull and horn of sambar deer, under the Wildlife Protection Act.
The DN Nagar police in Mumbai arrested three individuals on July 25th for allegedly participating in the illegal trade of 'Sambar' deer skulls and horns. The men have been identified as Manoj Barap, also known as Bhutya, 24, Harsh Dubey, 22, and Ashutosh Suryvanshi, 22, all residents of Borivali West.

After receiving a tip-off, the police set up a trap at the Wajeda House in Samta Nagar, Andheri West. The three men were apprehended at the location while attempting to sell the 'Sambar' deer skulls and horns to a wealthy person. The police seized these items, worth ₹20 lakhs, from the possession of the accused.

A case was registered against them for violating sections 9, 39, 48, 49, and 51 of the Wildlife Act. The investigation was overseen by Shashikant Mane, Assistant Commissioner of Police, D.N. Nagar, and led by Sr. Police Inspector Milind Kurade and his team.

This is not the only case of animal poaching and illegal wildlife trading in India. In Madhya Pradesh, a man was arrested for poaching and selling peacock meat. Such incidents are a threat to the conservation of wildlife and need to be addressed with the highest urgency. It is necessary to implement stricter laws and regulations to protect our wildlife.
