₹13 Crore worth of paddy destroyed in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh.
Balaghat is renowned as the rice bowl of Madhya Pradesh, where paddy is bought at minimum support price. However, the district has recently been hit with a great tragedy, as a result of lack of proper upkeep. Reports indicate that an estimated Rs 13 crore worth of paddy has been damaged due to rainfall.

The root of the problem lies with Go Green Company, which was assigned the responsibility of storing the paddy. An FIR has been registered against three senior officials of the company - Santosh Sahu, Saurabh Malviya, and Akhilesh Bisen - after Ramesh Patle, the district manager of the Warehousing Logistic Corporation, Balaghat, filed a complaint against them.

The company is said to have been negligent in protecting the paddy, which was kept in the open and covered with tattered plastic sheets. This exposed the paddy to rain and sunlight, leading to its damage. Adding to the tragedy, an estimated 6632.48 quintals of paddy were also stolen, valued at Rs 12,886 crore.

Police Station In-charge of Waraseoni, Shankar Singh Chouhan, reports that action will be taken against the culprits after the inquiry is over. An inquiry has already been launched on the basis of the complaint filed by the Warehousing Corporation.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Shujalpur, Madhya Pradesh, an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) has been put in the dock for organizing a mass recitation of the Quran in the health centre. The incident has caused a stir in the area, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the facts of the case.
