Maragodu, J. 4: The Maragodu-Kattemadu road here has been very bad for the last several years and vehicles have to struggle to move. The road has been closed for more than 15 years.
Repeated requests
The residents complained that though they had appealed to the authorities concerned several times, no steps had been taken to repair the road.
Kodagu Gowda Football Academy members and locals have arranged their own money to bring stones, gravel, soil and closed the potholes as it is difficult for motorists, passers-by and students to move due to the heavy rains. Locals and members of the academy enthusiastically participated in the four-hour-long Shramdaan despite the torrential rains.
Dams have also been constructed to drain out rainwater. The government departments that were supposed to come forward and solve the problems of the town have gone into deep sleep. So, we have approached the government for a temporary solution, "he said. Authorities concerned are urged to take steps to get the road repaired. The hard work of the youth is being appreciated by the local people.
