Women’s self-help groups in Madhya Pradesh to run toll plazas under MoU signed with state govt.
The Madhya Pradesh government has taken a major step to empower women by allowing them to run three toll plazas on the roads of the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation in the state. On Saturday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan signed an MoU with the women self-help groups in the presence of the CM at the CM House in Bhopal.

These toll plazas, located in Ujjain, Agar, and Chhatarpur districts, will be run by the women self-help groups. Chief Minister Chouhan praised the initiative and said that women should be confident and work with positivity to make an example of themselves around the world.

"Operating a toll plaza is considered an act of courage. Now, women self-help groups in the state are taking the responsibility of operating toll plazas, this is a big example of women empowerment. I have full faith that women will be successful in their resolution and will run the toll plaza efficiently," announced Chouhan.

He also added that women will get 30% of the amount collected from the operation of the toll plazas, and that he hopes that the self-help groups will become millionaires. To make this a reality, the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, Avinash Lavania, exchanged the MOU with the women of the SHGs.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh has taken a big step to support and empower women by giving them an opportunity to run these toll plazas. With this initiative, the state now stands as a model of women empowerment.
