Prince William unexpectedly travelled to a city in southeastern Poland located only 100km from the Ukrainian border today.
The Duke of Cambridge expressed his gratitude to British troops at an air defence military base in Rzeszów for keeping an eye on the circumstances in neighbouring Ukraine.
He came to Poland as part of a two-day visit to honour the Polish people for their aid to the struggling nation.
The prince expressed to soldiers: ‘I just wanted to come here in person to say thank you for all that you’re doing, keeping everyone secure here and monitoring what is happening.

The base in the capital of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship province is comprised of British, Polish, and US personnel sending assistance to Ukraine.
Also on the Prince of Wales’ agenda, he will now meet in Warsaw with some of the more than one million Ukrainian refugees who have found shelter in Poland.
Tomorrow, he will meet the Polish President Andrzej Duda at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw and visit a nearby food hall to converse with Ukrainian refugees.
Landing in Warsaw, the prince said: ‘It’s fantastic to be back in Poland.
