Will Nintendo unveil the Switch 2 at The Game Awards?
Is the big announcement going to happen tonight? There's been a lot of buzz on the Thursday letters page about a potential Xbox vs. PlayStation showdown at The Game Awards. One reader is especially excited for the Quake reboot from MachineGames. If you have something to add to the conversation, you can email us at [email].
But before we get too carried away, please note that we are currently preparing for the Christmas season and will need more Reader's Features to fill our content. So if you've been meaning to write one but haven't had the chance, we would greatly appreciate it if you could send it in before Monday, December 23rd.
As for the big night, I have to admit, I'm cautiously optimistic. The hints we've been getting have been quite vague and it's a bit frustrating that they're teasing us like this. But as we all know, what one person considers big news may be a disappointment for another. It's all about perspective.
From what I can gather, the hints seem to be pointing towards something related to Sony. But what could it be? Surely not a new console, right? If it's a lineup of new single-player games, I'll be over the moon. But if it's just more details on Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei, that would be the minimum I'd expect.
Another possibility is a reveal for the Switch 2, but I find it hard to believe that Nintendo would unveil their new console at someone else's event. As they say, traditions can change. However, I can't picture it happening. Maybe they'll show off Metroid Prime 4 since we've already seen a bit of it, but that's about it.
But in the end, I'm just hoping for a pleasant surprise. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that it's worth staying up for.

A Return to Battle
It's finally here, The Game Awards tonight. And to be honest, I have no idea what to expect. The confirmed games so far are pretty lackluster, except for maybe Split Fiction. But I'm hoping that's just the bottom of the barrel and we'll get some exciting announcements.
I won't even try to predict what will happen, but I'm hoping that this event becomes the new E3. I want to see Sony and Microsoft trying to outdo each other with big reveals. As gamers, we always benefit from that kind of competition. And with the Xbox Series X struggling, we haven't seen much of it this generation.
I don't expect Nintendo to have much to show, if anything at all. So it's going to be an old-fashioned two-way battle, where both companies try to win over gamers by... making really good games. And in the end, we all win.

The Marvel Factor
I don't think Marvel Rivals will have much staying power. I played it for a few hours and it's just so generic that I lost interest quickly. Even though it's free, I have no desire to go back to it. The characters might be more appealing than Concord, but they don't play any better. And the gameplay feels floaty and weightless, even with big characters like Venom and Hulk.
As others have mentioned earlier this week, the reason these live service games keep failing is because there are just too many of them. And they all play the same. The Marvel theme and constant advertising might give the game a boost for now, but I doubt we'll be hearing much about it next year.

Are you planning on reviewing the Little Big Adventure remake that was recently released? It was such a huge part of my childhood in the mid-90s and the first game I played with a sense of freedom and fully-voiced characters.
The team behind the remake is also hoping to work on its amazing sequel and even a third game if sales allow. I'm hoping some of the GC community remembers this gem as well!
Wishing you a fantastic Christmas and New Year.

P.S. I've been loving the in-depth topical gaming articles you've been running recently.
GC: It was one of our favorites too back in the day, but unfortunately, we couldn't get in touch with the developers or publishers in time to organize a review. We might come back to it, but it's a bit too late now.
Back to Quake
I've been thoroughly enjoying Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, but I have to admit, it's basically the same as every other MachineGames game in terms of its open world hubs and dialogue. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but they haven't really stepped out of their comfort zone.
There have been hints about a Quake reboot from them and I'm all for it. But let's be real, we know exactly what to expect: lots of shooting and wandering around hubs talking to people. Which will be interesting for Quake, considering the original concept was more of a role-playing game than what it ended up as.
I hope they bring back the Lovecraftian elements rather than going with dumb space aliens. And I hope they capture the creepy atmosphere of the original game that they never quite achieved again. There's so much potential there and I can't wait to see it.
