Siddapura, Sept. 19: A lone tusker attacked a two-wheeler on the main road in broad daylight on Saturday morning near Attimangala, close to Nelli-Hudikeri village, leaving the pillion rider seriously injured.

Umesh and his neighbor Subramani K., both residents of the 'Paisari' area in Abhyatmangala village, were traveling to Siddapura from Abhyatmangala on Umesh's scooter for work.

At around 9:45 AM, a lone tusker suddenly emerged onto the Siddapura-Madikeri main road from the Katibane coffee estate near Attimangala.

The elephant suddenly charged at the scooter, which Umesh was riding behind a private bus. Subramani K. (57), the pillion rider, sustained serious injuries to his face, legs, and hands during the attack.

Fortunately, he escaped with his life. Umesh, who was riding the scooter, sustained minor injuries; locals immediately took both injured individuals to the Siddapura Community Health Centre. After receiving first aid there, Subramani, who had sustained serious injuries, was referred to the District Hospital in Madikeri for further treatment.
