I lived in Texas for 42 years and had business interests in the Rio Grande Valley. I used to pass through immigration checkpoints traveling back from the Valley to my home. I have a sense of the culture in that part of Texas — fantastic citrus and Mexican food. Lots of palm trees. Very nice people. Huge drug cartel gateway to the US including for deadly fentanyl.

The Texas – Mexico border has been the scene of troubling movement since before Texas became part of the United States on 29 December 1845 becoming the 28th US state.
In modern times, there has been a flood of illegal immigration of such magnitude that President Trump attempted to build a continuous wall from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean. The Dems in the Congress thwarted his every attempt by denying funding.
After that ill-advised $5B decision, the country would end up spending as much as $500B on the border to deal with the invasion.
Trump, who is an active leader rather than a reactionary leader, confronted the President of Mexico and demanded he do something to diminish the hordes of Mexicans attempting to enter the United States illegally. In Trump’s days the illegals were almost exclusively Mexicans.
When the Mexican President was not initially cooperative, Trump threatened to impose a 25% tariff on everything coming out of Mexico to the United States. This is what you get when you have a strong leader.
Under this threat, the Mexican President acceded to Trump’s request. This policy became known as the Remain in Mexico policy.
Dear reader, perhaps a word as to how illegals attempt to enter the US is in order.
1. If an illegal attempts to enter the United States and is apprehended, he is pushed back across the border into Mexico unless he blurts out he is seeking “political asylum.”
2. Political asylum can only be granted when there is a “credible fear” of death or injury if an illegal is returned to his rightful nation.
3. The cartels who were transporting these illegals ($3-10,000 per person fee) began to counsel them to scream, “Asylum!” because this triggered a formal process.
4. That formal process included an initial interview with Border Patrol, a subsequent credible fear interview to establish the bona fides of the illegal’s fear of death or injury if returned to his native nation, and a court hearing to pronounce final judgement on the application for asylum.
5. During this process waiting for a court date — that took several months at that time — the US would confine, shelter, feed, and provide medical service to those illegals.
6. Fewer than 1% of illegals were successful in obtaining political asylum. If you failed to receive political asylum, you went back to your native nation.
What the Remain in Mexico policy did was to require these people to “remain in Mexico” during the process thereby relieving the United States of the burden of confinement, shelter, feeding, and medical care. It was a damn good policy.
Very simple. On Day One, Biden rescinded the US Remain in Mexico policy. His process looked like this:
1. Illegals crossing the border immediately reported themselves to Border Patrol and were sent to a processing point wherein they had an expedited intake interview.
2. As soon as they were in US custody, they received a credible fear interview.
Later when the hordes became an invasion, they really didn’t conduct these interviews.
3. Upon receiving their credible fear interview, they were scheduled for a court date.
Here’s where things changed.
4. Rather than remain in Mexico, the illegals were allowed to enter the US based on a promise to re-appear for their court date.
They were provided financial support, transportation, food, and housing for what was to have been a limited period.
5. As soon as the world realized you could get into the United States and disappear with no repercussions and that the US government woujld support you, the invasion began in earnest.
6. In no time, the court dates became 5-6 years in the future. Without Remain in Mexico, the US was flooded.
Going out on a limb here, but I don’t think anybody is showing up for those court dates. Currently the rate is less than 2%.
What did Biden do? He cancelled Remain in Mexico thereby triggering a flood of illegals being released into the country with court dates half a decade into the future.
There have been 10,000,000 illegals the Biden admin admits to and there are some substantial number of “got aways” who were not apprehended. Credible sources suggest that percentage of got aways could be as high as 30-40% of apprehended illegals.
We are likely looking at an influx of as many as 14,000,000 illegals on the Southern border on Joe Biden’s watch.
What is also clear is there is no longer any vetting at the border and we are getting illegals from more than a hundred countries, criminals, mental patients, gangsters, drug smugglers, terrorists, and gun runners.
We are also getting more drugs — fentanyl is at an all time high in both illegal smuggling and deaths — and contraband of all kinds.
OK, fine. Here’s what happened:
1. Trump used his force of personality to create the Remain in Mexico policy that dampened the flow of illegals to our country.
2. Biden rescinded the Trump Remain in Mexico policy on Day One thereby touching off an invasion of illegals unlike anything in the history of the US.
That’s it. If Joe Biden wanted to solve the problem at the border, he could reinstate the Remain in Mexico policy tomorrow.
