Welcome Arch Signboards Inaugurated

Kushalanagara, Oct 16: MLA Dr. Manthar Gowda inaugurated welcome arch signboards installed at various locations within the limits of the Kushalanagara Town Municipal Council (TMC). During an event held in front of the Government Engineering College in Madapattana, he symbolically inaugurated all the welcome arches. Speaking on the occasion, he noted that the TMC had installed four such signboards at the town's borders at a cost of Rs. 21 lakh. He stated that these signboards would be beneficial for travelers arriving in or departing from the 'home of the Kaveri' (Kodagu) via the neighboring districts of Mysuru and Hassan.

He also mentioned that arrangements have been made in Kushalanagara to view the *Kambala* (buffalo race) buffaloes as they are transported from Puttur to Mysuru, and he urged the public to come and witness them.

Responding to a question regarding the dissatisfaction surrounding the reservation criteria for the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) and Taluk Panchayat (TP), he clarified that the determination and modification of reservations are not within their control. He emphasized that women have equal opportunities to contest elections, just as men do, and noted that there is a significant number of female voters. He explained that there is a provision to file objections regarding reservation allocations; officials are expected to review the allocations—which are determined based on a rotation system—in accordance with the law. He acknowledged that it is difficult to satisfy everyone in this matter, adding that officials will conduct a review once objections are submitted. He advised the Chief Officer to ensure that the new signboards do not end up neglected in a corner and that necessary cleanliness is maintained.
