Valmiki Jayanti Celebrated in Gummanakolli

Kushalanagara, Oct 27: The birth anniversary of Sage Valmiki (Sri Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti) was celebrated at the Valmiki Bhavana in Gummanakolli. The event was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Kushalanagara and Somwarpet Taluk administrations, the Town Municipal Council (Purasabha), the Town Panchayat, the Social Welfare Department, the District Valmiki Nayaka Welfare Association, and various other organizations.

Inaugurating the event and offering floral tributes to the portrait of Sage Valmiki, Dr. Manthar Gowda, MLA for the Madikeri constituency, stated that transformation and change are the laws of the universe. Regardless of one's background, it is the valuable contribution one makes to society that truly counts—Sage Valmiki himself is a prime example of this. He emphasized that the potential to achieve greatness, despite challenging circumstances or adverse conditions, lies within each of us. He further urged the community to take an active interest in availing themselves of the government benefits and facilities designed for their development.

K.N. Ashok, President of the Kodagu District unit of the Maharshi Valmiki Nayaka Mahasabha, delivered the introductory remarks. He stressed the importance of the younger generation learning about Sage Valmiki, the great sage who authored the Ramayana.

It was also noted that further development of the Valmiki Bhavana would benefit all communities. A request was put forward for the establishment of a District Valmiki Bhavana in Kushalanagara. V. P. Shashidhar, Chairman of the Kushalanagara Taluk Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee, spoke.
