British YouTuber and musician Yung Filly, who is currently facing sexual assault charges, has recently admitted to reckless driving while out on bail. Real name Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, the 29-year-old artist appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday, where a large crowd of media was eagerly waiting for his arrival.
Dressed in a simple white t-shirt and blue jeans, Barrientos did not answer any of the reporters' questions as he made his way to a dark van waiting for him. A group of teenage fans watched on as their idol was whisked away. However, his court appearance was cut short due to a power outage, causing a 30-minute delay.
Barrientos was initially arrested in Brisbane and brought back to Perth to face the charges against him. These include four counts of sexual penetration without consent and three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, all related to an alleged incident in September. It is also alleged that he impeded the woman's breathing by applying pressure to her neck.
In a separate incident, Barrientos was caught by a speed camera driving at 158km/h in a 100km/h zone in November while out on bail. His vehicle was impounded by the police. His lawyer, Joanne Oliver, informed the court that Barrientos intends to plead guilty to the reckless driving charge when it returns to court on January 30. The other charges will also be addressed on that date.
Barrientos, who has a huge following on social media with 1.8 million subscribers on YouTube and millions more on Instagram and TikTok, has not entered a plea for the sexual assault charges. This means he may have to remain in WA for several years while awaiting trial. As part of his bail conditions, he must surrender his passport and provide a $100,000 security. He was previously required to report to the police every day, but his lawyer successfully argued for this to be reduced to three times a week, which was not opposed by the prosecutor.
According to Barrientos' Wikipedia page, he was born in Colombia and started his YouTube career in 2013, followed by his music career in 2017. He has also made appearances on various television shows, including BBC's Hot Property, where he hosted in 2018.
