Tyler Perry has entered into a creative partnership with Netflix, where he will be writing, directing, and producing feature films for the streaming giant. The multi-year first-look deal will see Perry working on an array of films, including the World War II period film "Six Triple Eight" and the Kelly Rowland-led "Mea Culpa".
The Hollywood Reporter announced the new films, which will join Perry’s previous Netflix releases, such as the 2022 love and family drama "A Jazzman’s Blues", the 12th installment to the Madea franchise "A Madea Homecoming" and the 2020 thriller "A Fall from Grace".
On top of this, Perry also has an ongoing deal with Amazon Prime, where he agreed to write, produce, and direct four feature films. The slate of upcoming films includes the police brutality drama "Black, White, and Blue", the Meagan Good-led marriage drama "Divorce in the Black" and the bio-doc on Perry's own life "Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story".
To cap off his impressive media presence, Perry still has a partnership with BET. His long-running scripted series "The Oval", "Assisted Living" and "Sistas" are all housed on the network. Unfortunately, Perry's attempt to purchase a majority stake in BET fell through in August, which he found both "disappointing" and "disrespectful" in a statement at the Bloomberg Equality Summit in Atlanta.
With his new Netflix deal and ongoing partnership with Amazon Prime, Perry's creative reach is only continuing to expand. We can't wait to see what he brings to the table next!
