In Bhubaneswar, a recent incident has led to the arrest of a father and son by the Lingaraj police. The two were accused of physically assaulting a daily-wage labourer near the Ananta Basudev Temple last Saturday. The individuals in question have been identified as Papu Parida, aged 50, and his son Pratap Parida, aged 20. Both of them hail from Nayagarh district. The victim, Papuna Behera, and the accused were all colleagues working together at a construction site in the city, according to the IIC of Lingaraj police station, Purnachandra Pradhan.
As per Pradhan, the altercation began on June 19 when Papuna retaliated against Papu and Pratap for verbally abusing him. The situation escalated and turned physical, with Papuna hitting the duo with a wooden plank. Fortunately, the locals were able to defuse the situation and calm everyone down.
However, things took a turn for the worse as the father-son duo harbored resentment towards Papuna for the earlier incident. On Friday night, while Papuna was on his way home from work, the two attacked him with an iron rod, causing severe head injuries and fractures in his arms.
Upon receiving a complaint from Papuna, the Lingaraj police took action and arrested the accused under Sections 341 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code. The two were then produced before a local court on Saturday.
This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of keeping our tempers in check and resolving conflicts peacefully. The legal system will ensure that justice is served, and the guilty parties are held accountable for their actions.
