In the town of Niwari, Madhya Pradesh, eight people associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party have been booked after a clash between two groups following the 'Jan Ashirwad Yatra' on the 22nd of September. The incident has been recorded and circulated on social media platforms.
District Panchayat President Saroj Premchand Rai was on her way from Niwari to Orchha when Ramesh Khangar and Sonu Yadav kept on overtaking her party which almost caused an accident. When she reached the Ramraja temple in Orchha, Sonu Yadav pushed her but her security personnel intervened. After her darshan, Khangar and Yadav along with others gathered around her car and used abusive language and roughed up her security personnel.
When Rai approached the police to file a complaint, she was made to sit at the police station for four hours and her complaint was not registered. Later she came to know that a false case had been filed against her and her husband. According to Rai, both Ramesh Khangar and Sonu Yadav are associates of Niwari MLA Anil Jain.
Police have booked eight people on the basis of countercomplaints from the two groups. Orchha Police Station incharge, Kamlesh Soni said, "We received information about a clash between two groups and have filed FIRs against eight people." This incident has caused much distress to the district panchayat president and the supporters of both sides.
