Two best friends created the first U.S.-based, Black women-owned citrus-based liqueur.
Best friends Daphne Carter and Taia Rashid are inspiring the spirits industry with their award-winning company, Cashid Beverage Ltd Co. The company was named after their last names and is the first Black women-owned citrus-based liqueur in the United States.

The duo launched a blog, Limoncello Life, and wrote a joint statement about their new journey. They shared that they are moms who are living a life centered on fun, faith, fashion, and food. They also believe in adding a bit of sparkle to their lives, which is why they are currently focusing on their Limoncello product.

Rashid had experience in the corporate world until she decided to become a stay-at-home mom, and Carter was on her way out of the corporate world as well. A trip to Italy gave them the inspiration to start their company, and it only took them less than two months to get their products on shelves.

On this new journey, Carter and Rashid are embracing the idea of a Limoncello Life, which is about luxurious and fun moments with friends and great company. Their flagship handcrafted spirit, Daphane Limoncello, is inspired by the Italian lemon liqueur made with lemon zest, sugar, and vodka. It is a premium spirit that aims to fill the gap in the market between sugary spirits and hard liquors.

The Cashid team ensured that their product only uses the best ingredients, such as handpicked Meyer Lemons, premium agave syrup, and five times distilled premium grain alcohol. It is also gluten-free and low-calorie, and it can be mixed, sipped, or taken as a shot.

Daphane Limoncello is now available in two luxurious flavor varieties. The traditional Limoncello and refreshing Raspberry Berrycello transport luxury cocktail connoisseurs to the Amalfi Coast with every sip. Recently, Cashid Beverage was awarded Silver Medals at the 2023 Bartenders Spirit Awards and is now available for purchase at select retailers.

These empowering Black women have made big waves in the spirits industry with their innovative product. Congratulations to Carter and Rashid for their success!
