Soap fans in for a major shock.

June 14th 2024.

TV viewers disappointed as popular soap operas, Coronation Street and Emmerdale, are cancelled for tonight.
"Don't feel too down, Ruby - you'll be back next week!" I said, trying to cheer up my friend as we sat on the couch, flipping through the TV channels. Unfortunately, our usual favorites, Coronation Street and Emmerdale, won't be airing tonight due to a schedule change on ITV.

Typically, we would tune in to Emmerdale village at 7:30pm after the ITV News, followed by a visit to the Corrie cobbles on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8pm. But tonight, our beloved soap operas have been pushed aside to make way for the UEFA European Football Championship 2024, which starts at 6:30pm and will disrupt our regular programming for the next month.

It's not a surprise, as the championship only takes place every four years, although the last one was in 2021 due to the pandemic. Unfortunately, we can only see the schedule for the next two weeks at the moment, but there will be a total of 51 matches overall.

But don't worry, our favorite shows will be back on Tuesday with an hour-long episode of each. In Emmerdale, we'll catch up with Amy and Moira Barton as they visit Matty in prison, where he was wrongly incarcerated for stabbing Samson Dingle. Of course, we all know it was an accident caused by Samson's friend Josh, who pushed him onto the knife.

Meanwhile, Belle King will visit a midwife in Emmerdale as she plans to terminate her pregnancy, which she sees as the only way to escape her manipulative and abusive husband, Tom. Over in Coronation Street, Toyah Habeeb will struggle on the day of baby Rose's funeral and turn to Nick for comfort, while Leanne continues to shut herself off from the world.

We can also expect some drama with Paul Foreman's questionable comments about his daughter Summer's new boyfriend, and Abi Webster's horror at Bethany Platt's new writing assignment. It's going to be worth the wait!
