Three police officers from Odisha were relocated after beating a woman.
In Bhadrak, a district in Odisha, a recent incident involving three police personnel from the Chandbali police station has sparked controversy. The three individuals, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Nepali Saha, Constable Rabindra Kumar Sethi, and Home Guard Kishore Mohapatra, were accused of assaulting a woman. As a result, they have been transferred to the district police headquarters by Bhadrak SP Varun Guntupalli.

The decision to transfer the three police personnel was made after a video of the incident went viral on social media platforms. The video caught the attention of the Bhadrak SP on Wednesday, prompting him to order an inquiry by Chandbali IIC. The inquiry revealed that the victim, Mita Sethi from Barua village, had gone to the police station to collect her monthly alimony from her divorced husband, Sambhuram. However, the situation took a turn when a shoe box was thrown inside the police station compound.

According to Mita, her four-year-old child was playing with the box and accidentally threw it inside the compound. When Constable Sethi approached her and requested her to put the box in a dustbin, Mita refused. This led to an altercation and Sethi allegedly slapped her. When Mita protested, two other policemen joined in and dragged her out of the police station. Mita's sister-in-law, who was with her at the time, was also reportedly assaulted when she tried to intervene.

In response to the allegations, Constable Sethi filed a counter FIR claiming that Mita had abused him and used offensive language when he approached her about the shoe box. The Chandbali IIC, Panchanan Mohanty, stated that an inquiry is currently underway to investigate the matter further.

As a result of this incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector Nepali Saha, Constable Rabindra Kumar Sethi, and Home Guard Kishore Mohapatra have been relieved of their duties and responsibilities at the Chandbali police station and transferred to the district police headquarters. This decision serves as a reminder that such behavior will not be tolerated in the police force and appropriate action will be taken against those who violate the law. Bhadrak SP Varun Guntupalli has also stated that the safety and well-being of citizens is of utmost importance and strict actions will be taken against anyone who mistreats or assaults individuals.
