Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – its art design is appealing but the graphics are quite basic

There are some worthwhile elements in Wo Long but what's irritating is that it doesn't take anything from Team Ninja's other games. The narrative issues are essentially similar to Nioh and so is the horrendous loot system, which keeps attempting to overwhelm you with unnecessary stuff. Even if you manage to get something useful it's generally just a couple of percentage points better than an item you already have, leading to a lot of time wasted managing the inventory.

Customisation is great but not if it means you spend more time looking through menus than you do playing the game, as you salvage gear for resources and decide into which slot on which weapon you'll insert something. All in all, it's likely not as bad as Nioh, but it's close enough that it's clear Team Ninja doesn't understand the problem everyone had with it.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – the graphics may be fairly low tech but the art design is nice

There are lots of good ideas in Wo Long, from the spirit meter to the morale system, but it's disappointing that the game still ended up repeating the same mistakes as Nioh. There isn't much enemy variety, so you find yourself fighting the same sorts of battles over and over again, and the loot system is still a mess, with it being difficult to find something actually useful and having to spend too much time managing your inventory. The online co-op is also largely pointless, since you never really need anyone's help.
