The Tourist S1 follows a man who is caught up in an international conspiracy after he is mistaken for someone else.
The BBC drama series The Tourist is back after two years, but how did season one end? When we were first introduced to Jamie Dornan's character Elliot, he wakes up in the Australian outback with no memory. He quickly discovers that people are trying to kill him wherever he goes.

In a hospital with severe amnesia, Elliot meets police officer Helen Chambers played by Danielle Macdonald who is in an unhappy relationship with controlling Ethan Krum. With the help of Luci, Elliot learns his name and discovers that he's the former accountant of an international criminal and he and Luci had stolen $1 million and ran away.

Elliot and Helen form a close bond as he takes her hostage in his efforts to piece together what had happened. Eventually, they manage to clear their names and Lachlan is arrested for the murder of Kostas and Luci. Helen ends her controlling relationship and Elliot learns that he trafficked women and smuggled bags of heroin into Australia via them.

Consumed with guilt, Elliot tries to kill himself but wakes up in hospital and Helen finds out about his past and turns her back on him. He prepares to die again but then receives a message from Helen with an emoji of a burrito, which she previously told him would mean everything was going to be okay.

All 6 episodes of The Tourist season 2 are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer, and the first episode will air on BBC One at 9pm on January 1.
