The spouse of 'Today' host Sheinelle Jones, Uche Ojeh, passes away from brain cancer.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Uche Ojeh, the husband of Sheinelle Jones, co-anchor of NBC's "Today" show. According to a report on the morning show on May 23rd, Ojeh lost his battle against an aggressive form of brain cancer at the age of 45.

Co-host Savannah Guthrie shared the heartbreaking news, saying, "We are deeply saddened to share that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our beloved friend and co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after bravely fighting glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. We cannot begin to express the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person and we all adored him. So, we want to take a moment to honor the remarkable man who was Sheinelle's perfect partner in life."

Ojeh leaves behind his wife, Jones, and their three children. Fellow "Today" co-anchor Craig Melvin also expressed his condolences and fondly remembered playing golf with Ojeh just last fall. "We had many conversations about life in general," Melvin shared. "And one thing he always talked about was his kids. He loved them more than anything else in this world and was so proud of them. He was the kind of dad who never missed a soccer game, who was always there for their concerts and recitals. He was that guy."

Jones has been on leave from her role on the "Today" show since the end of last year to attend to a "family health matter." She has been a part of the "Today" family for over a decade, joining in 2014 to work alongside Dylan Dreyer and Craig Melvin under NBC News.

Jones and Ojeh met at Northwestern University and got married in 2007. Ojeh proposed to Jones on the university campus, and the couple shared a strong bond and a deep love for their family.

Our hearts go out to Sheinelle and her children during this difficult time. We send our love and support to them as they grieve the loss of a loving husband, father, and friend. We will miss Uche dearly, and his memory will forever be treasured by all who knew him.
