Today, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra unveils details of their 2023-24 season to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Joining them are esteemed names like Thomas Adès, Nicola Benedetti, Colin Currie, Karen Cargill, Richard Egarr, Andrew Manze, and Roderick Williams. The orchestra looks to perform world premieres such as Sir James MacMillan’s choral work Composed in August and UK premieres like Anna Clyne’s violin concerto Time and Tides. Additionally, they will perform three new works by SCO associate composer Jay Capperauld.



The news of this season’s programme is accompanied by the extension of Maxim Emelyanychev’s contract as the orchestra’s principal conductor for a further five years. Maxim Emelyanychev is thrilled to continue his partnership with the orchestra and delighted by the warm welcome they receive from Scottish audiences. He looks forward to the season ahead and to create “life-changing musical experiences for our audiences”.
