As a fellow gamer, I have to admit that I have a problem. My name is Kevin and I am a backlogaholic. Despite having very little time to actually play games due to my responsibilities as a partner and a parent, I can't seem to stop buying them. It's a never-ending cycle of adding games to my collection without ever getting the chance to actually play them. That is, until I discovered the PlayStation Portal.
Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the struggles of being an older gamer with limited time. And let me tell you, I can definitely relate. But thanks to the PlayStation Portal, I have been able to finally break the cycle and actually complete games from my backlog. It's like a savior has arrived to save me from my gaming addiction.
As someone who prefers physical purchases, I take great comfort in seeing my collection of 11 game boxes displayed on my bookcase. It makes me feel secure knowing that even if I were to lose access to my digital library, I still have physical copies of my favorite games. I even joke that in the event of an apocalypse, as long as I have my game discs, I might still be able to get some gaming in. But let's hope it doesn't come to that.
But back to the PlayStation Portal. Ever since receiving it as a Christmas gift, I have been able to complete three games from my backlog and make progress on several others. As a one screen household, the Portal has been a game-changer for me. I used to have to wait until everyone had gone to bed to get some gaming time in, but now I can simply play in bed using the Portal. It has reignited my love for gaming and has made me more intentional about which games I buy.
Speaking of buying games, there has been a lot of hype around the PlayStation 5. And while I was initially drawn in by the impressive graphics and performance, the PlayStation Portal has made me realize that those things don't matter as much as actually playing and completing the games. My 8-inch HD screen provides enough for me graphically, and the Portal's limitations have actually set me free to enjoy the games without worrying about the latest technology.
Now, does the Portal completely stop me from buying unnecessary games? Of course not. The thrill of ordering a game online and waiting for it to arrive still outweighs the convenience of digital purchases. And let's be real, there's just something special about peeling back the tear line on a physical game. But thanks to the Portal, I am now more intentional about my purchases and actually playing the games that I buy.
I've been a gamer since the days of the NES, and my love for gaming is still going strong. But the PlayStation Portal has made a huge difference in my gaming life. I am now able to actually play the games that I buy and have seen a significant increase in the number of games I complete each year. So thank you, PlayStation Portal, for setting me free from my backlog and allowing me to truly enjoy my favorite hobby.
