A preeminent modern dance troupe is planning to present their show, Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby, at Edinburgh Festival Theatre from 28 February to 4 March.
After packing out the theaters in Birmingham and having a triumphant debut in London, Rambert Dance is set to hit the stage. This show was written and adapted by Peaky Blinders' originator Steven Knight CBE, and was choreographed and directed by Rambert's creative leader, Benoit Swan Pouffer.
The Redemption of Thomas Shelby begins in the trenches of Flanders, and follows the Shelby family's tale in post-war industrial Birmingham. As Tommy Shelby, the head of the gang, seeks to build his kingdom, he is diverted by a captivating newcomer, Grace Burgess, who is on a secret mission to uncover the Peaky Blinder gang's malicious strategies. Neither of them expected the intense love affair that follows.

The performance showcases the full permanent Rambert dance team on stage, and has a live band playing original music and Peaky Blinders' classics from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Radiohead, Anna Calvi, The Last Shadow Puppets, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
The audience will also be able to hear the voice of acclaimed writer and poet Benjamin Zephaniah, who played Jeremiah Jesus in the TV series, in pre-recorded narration, which will emphasize the key points of the narrative.
Steven Knight has included exclusive plot and character elements in the show that were not seen in the TV series. Regarding the UK tour, he commented:
