New Delhi: The National Board of Examinations will be announcing the revised schedule for NEET-PG within the next two days, according to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This comes after last week's decision to cancel the exam, along with several others, due to concerns over possible unfairness.
Speaking to reporters in Panchkula during the Haryana BJP's extended state executive meeting, Pradhan stated, "The NBE will be releasing the date for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Post Graduate in the next one or two days."
This update from Pradhan comes after the National Testing Agency revealed new dates for three exams that were previously cancelled. The University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test, which was abruptly cancelled on June 18 due to suspicions of compromised integrity, will now take place from August 21 to September 4.
Pradhan had previously shared that the question paper had been leaked on the darknet and circulated through the Telegram app. The matter is currently under investigation by the CBI.
The UGC-NET is a crucial exam for determining eligibility for the Junior Research Fellowship, as well as for assistant professor positions and PhD programs. This year, the exam was conducted in an offline mode on a single day, but the rescheduled exam will revert to the previous pattern of a Computer Based Test spread out over two weeks.
In a similar vein, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research UGC-NET, which was postponed as a precautionary measure amidst concerns of irregularities, will now take place from July 25 to July 27.
The CSIR UGC-NET is a key exam for admissions to PhD programs in Chemical Sciences, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences.
Additionally, the National Common Entrance Test for the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme, which was originally scheduled for June 12 but was cancelled just hours before, will now take place on July 10. The purpose of this test is to determine admissions to select central and state universities or institutions, including IITs, NITs, RIEs, and government colleges.
Following criticism over the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG medical entrance exam and the PhD entrance NET, the government has established a panel to ensure fair and transparent conduct of all exams through the NTA.
