The CM of Odisha met with Ashwini Vaishnaw to discuss improving railway infrastructure in the state.
On Friday, the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, had a fruitful discussion with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw about the development of railway infrastructure in the state. Majhi, who was in the capital city for a visit, met with Vaishnaw to discuss various issues related to the growth of the railway network in Odisha.

The Ministry of Railways has recently approved several significant projects for the state, including the construction of a 250-kilometer long railway line between Gopalpur and Rayagada and the final location survey for the doubling of the Nuapada-Gunupur-Therubali line. These initiatives are aimed at boosting economic development, especially in the southern part of Odisha.

According to a press statement released by the Chief Minister's Office, Majhi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Vaishnaw for their unwavering focus on the progress of the state. "During the meeting, we discussed the construction of the Joda-Badabil and Badabil-Barasuan railway lines, which will play a crucial role in establishing an industrial corridor connecting Badabil, Joda, and Keonjhar. This development is expected to generate numerous employment opportunities and accelerate the growth of the region," said the CMO.

During the meeting, Union Minister Vaishnaw reiterated the Central government's commitment to the development of Odisha, highlighting that projects worth Rs 73,000 crore are currently underway in the state. He also mentioned that since 2014, Odisha has witnessed the construction of 2,046 kilometers of new railway lines, surpassing the total rail network of Malaysia. The focus is now on improving connectivity in tribal and aspirational districts, with eight new lines worth Rs 20,000 crore approved during the third term of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 59 stations in Odisha are being upgraded, with 16 of them falling under the aspirational districts. During the meeting, Railway Minister Vaishnaw also informed that the Rayagada Division has been established, and six Vande Bharat trains are now operational in the state. He emphasized that the Central government is committed to further expanding the state's railway infrastructure in the coming years.
