The 'Book of HOV' exhibit at Brooklyn Public Library broke records with its attendance.
Jay-Z's tribute at the Brooklyn Public Library has been an incredible success, drawing record numbers of visitors. The "Book of HOV" exhibit, conceptualized by Roc Nation, has completely transformed the library. It includes iconic lyrics, replicas of Jay-Z's first recording studios, and never before seen photos of the renowned rapper.

The "Book of HOV" opened in the summer and included a range of interactive displays. According to the Brooklyn Paper, the exhibit has increased attendance at the branch by a whopping 74%, with over 600,000 visitors during its five-month run until its closure on December 4.

Linda E. Johnson, President of the BPL, commented on the exhibition, “This exhibition is a testament to Jay-Z’s global impact, and to the dynamic energy and spirit of Brooklynites and hip-hop fans.” She added, “We look forward to welcoming back our new patrons and cardholders who, thanks to “The Book of HOV,” have already begun enjoying all of the materials, services and programming the library has to offer.”

Desiree Perez, CEO of Roc Nation, praised the BPL and the exhibit for highlighting Brooklyn culture while still telling Jay-Z’s story. She said, "What began as a seed of an idea grew to one of the most culturally significant events of 2023."

The tribute also brought many fans of Jay-Z from across the US to the library. Jared Tennant from Pennsylvania commented, “I started listening to Jay-Z in the ‘90s when he released ‘Reasonable Doubt’ and was instantly a fan. Jay-Z and Nas have been my two favorite MCs as far back as I can remember and I’m a huge hip-hop fan, especially ‘90s and 2000s hip-hop, so there was no way I would miss out on an exhibit like this.”

The success of the "Book of HOV" exhibit has been remarkable and has brought joy to many hip-hop fans. With its closure, the Brooklyn Public Library will undoubtedly miss the incredible immersive experience it brought to its visitors.
