Activist Tamika Mallory is offering words of support to Chrisean Rock, a 23-year-old social media personality who is currently facing criticism for her handling of motherhood. Rock recently gave birth to her son, Chrisean Jr., on Sept. 3, who she shares with rapper Blueface.
Mallory is all too familiar with the struggles of being a young mother. Sharing her own experience, the co-organizer of the 2017 Women’s March revealed that she had a child at a young age and that she “made a lot of mistakes and poor decisions” as she learned how to be a good parent.
“My heart goes out to Chrisean,” Mallory expressed on social media. “She has been heavy on my heart. People talked about me, and many people didn’t think I’d be successful. My son suffered at times.”
The 43-year-old is now dedicating her work to activism and hopes that Rock knows that people empathize with her plight and support is out there. Mallory is encouraging anyone who is aware of Rock to reach out and let her know that there is a community ready to help.
“If anyone who follows me knows sis, please let her know that there is a group of women ready to help her. When she said, 'don’t film me, help me,' it hit me to my core. I know it’s not easy or convenient to intervene in the affairs of people you don’t know, but I do it all the time. A lot of times, I suffer the consequences and I’m ok with that. This situation is no different!”
Mallory made an additional post addressing her critics who asked why she doesn’t bestow this same service to mothers who are not social media famous. She clarified that she has indeed helped those who are not in the spotlight and that her effort to help all young, single mothers in difficult situations is conducted on a “regular” basis.
