Tableaux Steal the Spotlight at Gonikoppa Dasara

Ponnampet, Oct 22: The 38th annual tableau procession, organized by the Gonikoppa 'Naada Habba' (Regional Festival) Dasara Committee, added a vibrant touch to the Dasara celebrations by conveying various meaningful messages.

The procession, which traveled from the premises of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) along the main road to the Uma Maheshwari Temple, was watched by the public gathered on both sides of the road.

The 'Bhagat Singh Yuvaka Sangha' (Bhagat Singh Youth Association) presented a tableau titled "Karunada Shilpa Vaibhava – Art Blossoming in Stone," which showcased the rich heritage of Karnataka’s sculptural art.

A tableau presented by the 'Sarvam Samiti'—featuring athletes from the Asian Games—conveyed a powerful message: athletes who bring glory to the nation should receive the same level of recognition and respect often reserved for cricket and film stars. It further emphasized the need to encourage and support all forms of sports. The Aruvathoklu Sharadamba Dasara Committee and the Sanjeevini Construction Workers' Association expressed a strong social concern—centered on the message that "protecting women is everyone's responsibility"—by calling for the prevention of rape and atrocities, the assurance of safety and dignity for women, and the imposition of the death penalty for rapists.
