December 5th 2024.
The latest episode of I'm A Celebrity has just aired, and it was a night of surprises and emotions as we witnessed the first double elimination of the season. After almost three weeks of living in the Australian jungle, our campmates are now closer than ever to the end of their journey in the popular reality show.
As the final approaches, the pressure is on for the remaining celebrities as not everyone can make it to the 2024 finale. This meant that tonight, not one, but two stars were eliminated, leaving only six celebrities in the camp. The remaining contestants are Coleen Rooney, Danny Jones, Oti Mabuse, Maura Higgins, Reverend Richard Coles, GK Barry, Alan Halsall, and Barry McGuigan.
Unfortunately, the time had come for champion boxer Barry and Love Island alum Maura to say their goodbyes and walk across the bridge. After hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly revealed their fate, the pair bid emotional farewells to their Jungle family before heading to the studio for a chat about their highlights.
In his exit interview with Ant and Dec, 63-year-old Barry expressed his disappointment at missing out on the iconic Celebrity Cyclone challenge. However, he also shared that he had an incredible time in the jungle and that the experience was much tougher than he had expected. He also mentioned the struggle of living without basic amenities such as food and condiments.
Barry also talked about his special bond with pop star Danny, who he sees as a father figure. He praised the young singer and predicted that he would be the one to win the show.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old Maura, who entered the camp as a latecomer, shared that she didn't expect to embrace the experience as much as she did. She also mentioned that she learned a lot about herself during her 15 days in the jungle, and she is much stronger than she ever thought.
Maura also spoke about the strong bond and support among the campmates, saying that they were like a proper unit and there were no arguments, which was surprising.
The shocking double elimination of Barry and Maura was followed by another unexpected twist. The identity of one semi-finalist was revealed after the campmates were told that they would all be competing for a ticket to the much-coveted Celebrity Cyclone trial. This challenge also guaranteed the winner immunity from the next two vote-offs and a spot in the finale.
After a fierce competition between McFly's Danny, TV personality Coleen, Love Islander Maura, and Strictly pro Oti, it was Oti who emerged as the winner. Her final game at the Arcade of Agony, Battle Blocks, involved assembling plastic blocks while battling against critters. Oti was the first to press the golden buzzer, granting her the ticket to Cyclone as confetti rained down on her.
The other celebrities congratulated Oti on her victory, and she couldn't contain her excitement, saying that she would have to wash her underwear more now. However, with the shock double elimination, viewers took to social media to express their disappointment that Maura was not in the final, with many calling her the most deserving contestant.
The next episode of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! airs tomorrow at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX. We can't wait to see what other surprises and emotions are in store for our remaining celebrities. Do you have a favorite contestant? Let us know in the comments!
