Madikeri, Jul. 11: District in-charge Minister N.S. Bhosaraju assured that steps will be taken to release the necessary funds for the comprehensive development of the roads in the district, which are in a bad condition.

Speaking at a meeting of officials held at the city's Deputy Commissioner's office, he said that many roads have been damaged due to rain. It has been noticed that the roads in the rural areas are in a very bad condition. The necessary funds are already available in this regard and further funds will be released from the government level. The potholed roads of the Public Works and Panchayat Raj departments should be repaired temporarily. He said that attention should be paid to ensure that there is no problem in traffic.

Public Works Department Engineer Ibrahim said that the work of repairing the roads damaged by the rain by applying 'wet mix' is underway. Due to the rain, the wet mix is being removed. For this, he drew attention that Rs. 5 crore is required.

Health and Family Welfare Department Officer Dr. Satish Kumar said that 8 dengue cases have been reported in the district. Tests have been increased. Larval survey work is also being conducted. He explained that necessary steps have been taken to prevent the spread of the epidemic.

The work on the power substation is underway in Murnad. It has been completed in Madapur, and the processes regarding land in Maragod are underway at the District Collector level.
