CLLCTIVLY, a place-based social change organization centering Black genius, narrative power, social networks, and resource mobilization, achieved a momentous milestone yesterday. In just 24 hours, they raised more than a million dollars during their fifth annual day of giving, CLLCTIVGIVE.
According to News One, CLLCTIVGIVE was founded by CLLCTIVLY in 2019 and has since connected donors with Black-led groups, presented a speaker series and an awards ceremony, and launched the Solidarity Awards in partnership with the Elbow Fund.
CLLCTIVLY CEO Jamye Wooten expressed her gratitude and excitement for the groundbreaking success of CLLCTIVGIVE. She said, “This was not only a historic moment in Black philanthropy, but it also reinforced the organization’s commitment to fostering sustainable solutions for social progress. This momentous fundraising event will reverberate through Black-led communities for years to come.”
Wooten also pointed out that CLLCTIVGIVE has seen immense growth since its inception, as evidenced by the amount raised in its first year to more than $1 million in its fifth year.
To further support Black-led entities and the causes associated with them, CLLCTIVLY announced that the Solidarity Fund, in partnership with the Elbow Fund, will provide 15 organizations with awards of $50,000 each. In addition, the Elbow Fund will also be providing 8 other organizations with grants of $10,000 each as members of the inaugural CONNECT cohort.
The success of CLLCTIVGIVE is a testament to the power of community and the impact of collective action. We are excited to see how this success will translate into the long-term social progress of the Black-led communities that CLLCTIVLY serves.
