Stars of 90s BBC show reuniting for special after years apart.
Four familiar faces are gracing our screens once again as the delightful ladies of Absolutely Fabulous reunite for a long-awaited special. Jennifer Saunders, Dame Joanna Lumley, Julia Sawalha, and Jane Horrocks will be joining forces to reminisce about their time on one of Britain's most outrageous comedies. After an eight-year hiatus, fans can look forward to a one-off show that is sure to leave them in stitches.

The talented quartet will be taking a trip down memory lane, reflecting on the creation and evolution of the show from its humble beginnings on the BBC to its big screen debut. They will also be paying tribute to the late June Whitfield, who portrayed Edina Monsoon's hilarious and mischievous mother, affectionately known as 'Mother' to viewers.

For those who may not be familiar, Absolutely Fabulous followed the extravagant and reckless PR maven Edina, and her former "It" girl and model friend Patsy, as they navigated their way through their 40s with little regard for adult responsibilities. They were often seen indulging in copious amounts of Bolly (short for Bollinger champagne), dabbling in various drugs, and splurging at the luxury department store Liberty. Edina's long-suffering daughter Saffy was usually left to pick up the pieces of their wild antics.

Jane Horrocks brought to life the eccentric and slow-witted assistant Bubble, while a slew of A-list celebrities such as Lulu, Emma Bunton, and Twiggy made frequent appearances, often as clients of Edina's disastrous PR company.

Saunders, the mastermind behind the show, expressed her gratitude for the "kind and helpful" sitcom, which she wrote and starred in as Edina. She also admitted that much of the retrospective was a revelation to her, as she couldn't remember many of the details.

Dame Joanna, who played the fabulous and fashionable Patsy, added, "It was a fabulous wander down memory lane by actresses who only have the faintest grip on reality. Really thrilling, and I hope vastly entertaining. I loved every second."

Kirsty Hanson, the brains behind the documentary for comedy channel Gold, praised the show for breaking barriers and paving the way for female-led comedy. She also promised fans a real treat, with celebrity fans and never-before-seen clips making an appearance in the special.

Absolutely Fabulous first graced our screens in 1992 and ran until 2003, with a brief return in 2011 and 2012 to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The series concluded with Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie in 2016. Fans can catch the special, titled Absolutely Fabulous: Inside Out, on Gold later this year.
