Skerryvore, a beloved Scottish folk-rock band, has been appointed as the global band ambassador for Ardnahoe Distillery. This is a huge honor for the band, and they are thrilled to embark on this new journey. As they continue their North American and European tours in the coming months, they will also be hosting special whisky sessions and promoting the distillery at their shows and festivals.
In 2025, Ardnahoe plans to release a special 20th anniversary bottling in celebration of Skerryvore's 20 years in the music industry. This is a significant milestone for the band, who was formed in 2004 on the Hebridean Isle of Tiree by brothers Daniel and Martin Gillespie. The band takes its name from the Skerryvore Lighthouse, which sits approximately 11 miles southwest of Tiree. With six studio albums, a compilation, and a live album under their belt, Skerryvore has captured the hearts of fans all over the world.
"We are honored to be partnering with Ardnahoe and embarking on this journey as brand ambassadors," said Daniel Gillespie of Skerryvore. "As musicians, it's a privilege to be able to share Scottish culture through our music, and what better way to accompany a good tune than with a great dram."
Last month, Ardnahoe released its first bottling, the Inaugural Release, a limited edition five-year-old Islay single malt Scotch whisky. This whisky has been shaped by three generations of the Glasgow-based Laing family since the 1940s and is the first whisky to come out of Islay since 2009. With a nose of Islay peat smoke and a palate of custard, ginger, lemon zest, and baked apples, the Inaugural Release is a classic and sophisticated Islay single malt. It has been matured in ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 50% ABV, striking a perfect balance between peat and smoke with a sweet fruitiness and depth of flavor.
"We are delighted to welcome the incredible Skerryvore as Ardnahoe's first global brand ambassadors," said Scott Laing, Director for Hunter Laing & Co. "Like us, the band combines centuries of Scottish tradition with a fresh and modern approach, making them the perfect fit for our distillery. Their surprise performance at Fèis was a hit, and we are excited to see our partnership grow and reach new audiences as Skerryvore continues to promote Scottish music and culture on their tours."
