On Friday, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) was granted the initial tranche of ₹410 crore as part of the viability gap funding amounting to ₹1,225 crore by the Central Government for the development of the Pune Metro Line 3 project. This project is being implemented through a public-private partnership at a total cost of ₹8,313 crore, with approval granted by the state government in 2018. As a result, the consortium of TRIL Urban Transport Pvt Ltd and Siemens Project Ventures was awarded the project, with the special purpose vehicle, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, established.
As of now, around 45% of the project work has been successfully completed. The Commissioner of PMRDA, Rahul Mahiwal, expressed his satisfaction at the timely receipt of the first tranche from the central government, adding that the project will proceed according to schedule.
The Pune Metro Line 3 project details are as follows: length of 23.203 km, an elevated type, Maan Village as the depot, and 23 stations along the route, named Megapolis Circle, Embassy Quadron Business Park, Dohler, Infosys Phase II, Wipro Phase II, Pall India, Shivaji Chowk, Hinjewadi, Wakad Chowk, Balewadi Stadium, NICMAR, Ram Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, Balewadi Phata, Baner Gaon, Baner, Krushi Anusadhan, Sakal Nagar, University, R.B.I., Agriculture College, Shivajinagar, and Civil Court.
